Long Island weather: Temperature hits 70 in November for first time in four years

For the first time in four years, a 70-degree day in November has been recorded at Long Island's official weather-monitoring location.
At 1:11 p.m. Tuesday, the temperature hit 70 degrees at Long Island MacArthur Airport, the National Weather Service said.
The thermometer also hit 70 in Farmingdale, with LaGuardia Airport seeing 73.
The last time MacArthur saw a November day's temperature rise above 69 was Nov. 8, 2011, when it hit 70 on the nose, said Carlie Buccola, a weather service meteorologist based in Upton.
The area is expected to bask in above-normal temperatures through Saturday, with highs 5 to 10 degrees above normal, which is the high 50s for early November, said Rich Hoffman, News 12 Long Island meteorologist.
Overnight lows in the 50s are forecast -- about 10 degrees above normal.
Sunny skies and warm temperatures continue through the week, with a chance of rain tomorrow morning and Friday night.
