National Weather Service: Overnight showers linger through Wednesday, then sunshine returns
After an unusual fall day that was positively balmy, Wednesday's weather should be wet and slightly cooler, the National Weather Service said.
The daytime high on Tuesday of 70 degrees was the high temperature mark in a week that gradually gets cooler, forecasters said, with Wednesday's high expected to be 67 and rain considered likely Wednesday morning.
There is also a chance of showers into Wednesday afternoon and a "slight" chance Wednesday night, the weather service said.
The mercury will gradually drop through the week, each day, until a high of 59 Friday, hovering around 60 for the weekend. But abundant sunshine will be drenching the Island all the way through from Thursday to Sunday afternoon, forecasters said.
Nighttime lows should range around the upper 40s through Monday.
The next chance of rain after Wednesday will be Sunday night. And, sadly for the kids, forecasters are seeing possible rain marring Monday, Halloween, both during the day and for the evening trick or treating.
"A predominantly dry weekend is expected with the high nearby, though increasing moisture on Sunday may allow for a few showers and additional cloud cover," the weather service said.
"A wet Halloween cannot be ruled out at this point," the weather service said. There is a 50% chance of showers Monday during the day and 40% at night, the weather service said.
