After several steamy days of temperatures well into the 80s, Long Island will settle back to a stretch of weather closer to normal, forecasters say.
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday were looking at highs in the mid to upper 70s - with the higher seen closer to the city and lower for the East End, according to the National Weather Service’s late Tuesday afternoon.
Normal highs for this time of year at Long Island MacArthur Airport are 78 to 79 degrees.
“Clouds will begin to increase Wednesday morning,” with skies becoming mostly cloudy by afternoon, the weather service said.
Then, chances of showers and thunderstorms enter the picture for Wednesday night into early morning Thursday, which then goes on to see mostly sunny skies.
It’s back to all sunshine for Friday, with chances of showers Saturday.
