Long Island weather: After rainy Election Day, clear, sunny Wednesday
After a rainy but warm Election Day, Wednesday should be clear and in the 50s on Long Island, the National Weather Service said.
But the cold is coming later in the week, along with some rain, forecasters said.
Tuesday’s high of almost 60 degrees was to plunge into the 40s overnight. The high on Wednesday, though sunny, is expected to be 51 degrees, the Nartional Weather Service said.
Thursday could be slightly warmer, with a high near 55 degrees expected. But that will change. There is a 30% chance of showers after 4 p.m., the weather service said, and a higher chance overnight. An earlier forecast of a possible rain/snow mix Thursday night has been revised to include only rain.
Then, Friday will see cold temperatures arrive, only reaching a high in the low 40s and a drop into the 20s at night, forecasters said.
