Long Island weather: Possible overnight flooding on South Shore, sunny Wednesday
Long Island is headed for a clear night with a low in the mid 60s, with the National Weather Service warning of possible minor flooding on Nassau's South Shore.
The flooding is not related to storms or rain but rather the effect of the full moon in combination with southeast swells, the weather service said. The flooding could occur between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Wednesday is expected to be sunny with a high in the 70s and a low of 62, forecasters said. Wednesday night will be clear but there is an outside chance of showers Thursday morning, with the risk of rain returning Thursday night as well as an overnight storm and gusty winds up to 24 mph, forecasters said.
Showers are likely both Friday morning and evening with a high in the mid 80s, the weather service said.
Saturday and Sunday are predicted to be sunny and in the mid 70s.
