Long Islanders can expect evening showers Tuesday that will last through the predawn hours of Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday is expected to start off cloudy, but the skies will gradually clear and start a dry stretch that could likely last until next week. Highs in the upper 50s are again forecast, considered to be below-normal temperatures for this time of year, and a cold night is expected with a low of 37 and north winds up to 17 mph.

Thursday looks to have very similar conditions, the weather service said, with abundant sunshine and highs in the mid 50s, a low of 38 degrees at night and winds up to 20 mph.

Sunny skies will prevail through the weekend and temperatures will likely be in the upper 50s Friday, warming to near 60 degrees on Saturday. Sunday will be even warmer, with highs in the mid-60s predicted. Nighttime lows over the weekend will be in the 40s.

Temperatures are expected to be in the low 60s Monday, with partly sunny skies and 30% chance of rain, the weather service said.
