Forecast: Mostly sunny, clear skies through weekend

Even curmudgeons might hold their peace when it comes to this week’s weather.

“It’s a treat,” Upton-based National Weather Service meteorologist Jay Engle said by telephone.

Especially after Wednesday night, when the humidity will fall as drier air sweeps in from the north, he said.

“The humidity is indicated to get a lot lower late Wednesday night to Thursday,” he said.

However, Wednesday’s ocean swimmers must beware.

That day brings a high rip current risk, created by swells from tropical cyclone Chris, the NWS said.

The hazardous rip tide warning runs from Wednesday at 8 a.m. through the evening to 9 p.m., and covers Atlantic beaches from Montauk to Brooklyn and Queens.

Rip currents typically form at “low spots or breaks in sand bars” or near groins, jetties and piers, the NWS explained.

During the day on Wednesday, the mostly sunny skies could help temperatures rise as high as 87, according to the NWS.

Those clear skies are forecast all the way through Monday, though the nights might be cloudy, the NWS website predicted.

The thermometer will stay in the low 80s during that period, it said.
