Thin clouds, peaks of sunshine and strong breezes are dominating the weather Tuesday, leading to a mostly clear, cool night and a sunny Wednesday.

Highs Tuesday are ranging from the upper 60s on eastern Long Island to the mid-70s closer to New York City. Winds of about 14 mph are blowing with some higher occasional gusts, the National Weather Service said. Tuesday night will be clear with calmer winds and a low of about 52 degrees.

Wednesday is expected to be sunny and slightly cooler, with highs around 70 degrees.

Then, the weather service said, "The next chance for the area to see rain is Wednesday night through Thursday." There is a 50% chance of overnight showers that could last through Thursday morning.

Thursday should otherwise be cloudy, with highs again around 70 degrees, the weather service said.

Sunny skies are on tap for Friday and Saturday, though, and temperatures should warm up into the upper 70s Friday and could be in the mid-80s on Saturday.

There is a chance of showers Saturday night and then again on Sunday, when highs in the low 80s are forecast, the weather service said.

The workweek will start out sunny but cooler, with highs in the low 70s predicted for Monday.
