Long Island weather: Sunny and warm Wednesday, rain likely Thursday
Long Islanders can expect another day of sunshine and springlike warmth on Wednesday before rain arrives on Thursday, the National Weather Service said.
After a mostly clear Tuesday night and a low around 40, Wednesday will see a daytime high near 56 with light wind, followed by Increasing clouds at night with a low around 41, the weather service said.
"There should be plenty of sunshine, especially during the peak heating of the day, and temperatures will remain above seasonal normals," the weather service said.
Then there is a 70% chance of rain on Thursday, and highs are predicted to be in the low 50s, the weather service said. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch of rain is possible.
Sunshine is forecast to return Friday, with a high near 58, the weather service said.
The rain will return on Saturday, with showers predicted from 2 a.m. tor 2 p.m. and highs in the mid-50 and a low in the upper 30s.
Then, the weather service said, "Dry conditions and a gusty northwest flow [are] likely on Sunday as this system pulls away, with high pressure building in for early next week."
Temperatures should be in the low 50s Sunday, with a low around 37. the weather service said.
Monday will be sunny, with highs in the mid-50s, the weather service said.
