Sunny skies and seasonable temperatures Tuesday are setting the table for a milder week, giving Long Islanders a break from the snow, freezing rain and severe cold of recent weeks, forecasters said.
The sun replaced early clouds Tuesday and temperatures went to the mid-40s, falling to a low of 27. Tuesday night will be breezy, with gusts up to 21 mph, the National Weather Service said.
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday will also feature warmer temperatures. Wednesday will also be sunny, with a high of 42, dropping to the 30s at night.
Thursday starts out with a 20% chance of rain before the sun reappears, bringing a high of 46, the weather service said.
Friday and Saturday are also filled with at least some sun and while the high on Friday will be 44, forecasters said, it will hit 50 degrees on Saturday.
Night temperatures were forecast to dip into the 30s and high 20s those days.
But Sunday, while clear and bright, will bring a cool-down, with a high of just 36 degrees and a low of 20, forecasters said.
