Tuesday evening brings a slight chance for showers and a thunderstorm, with a high rip current risk continuing through 9 p.m. at ocean beaches, forecasters said.

Both Kennedy and LaGuardia airports were reporting weather-related arrival and departure delays late Tuesday afternoon, with the Federal Aviation Administration advising travelers to check with their airlines, as precipitation has affected areas farther to the west.

The overnight hours into early Wednesday bring increasing chances of precipitation, which becomes likely by the afternoon through early morning Thursday, forecasters said.

“Rain could come down heavy at times, with a passing thunderstorm also possible,” the National Weather Service said in its regional summary.

For yet another day, a high rip current risk is in effect for ocean beaches on Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Temperatures, expected to warm up to the high 70s Wednesday, will feel steamier, thanks to the continuing presence of tropical air, the weather service said.

Unsettled weather, along with that mugginess, continues for Thursday.
