Rain or the chance of it looms as the week goes on for Long Island, as the pattern of cloudy, moist spring weather persists.

April was all too full of showers bringing spring flowers and, come May, there was little relief.

Monday's sun provided a brief respite from Sunday's deluge, followed by passing showers Tuesday evening.

Wednesday morning could bring just a sprinkle, but overall it will be a "decent day," with highs in the low to mid-60s, said Pat Cavlin, News 12 Long Island meteorologist.

"It's cloudy for everyone, but sunshine works its way into the afternoon," Cavlin said.

Thursday? Not so nice, he said. Cloudy, drizzly, highs in the mid-50s to around 60 degrees.

There is a 50 percent chance of rain for Friday, when it will be cloudy with a high near 69, the National Weather Service said, with a 40 percent chance of showers Friday night.

A mostly sunny Saturday with a high near 67 is the better of the weekend days, with a small chance of rain overnight in the predawn hours.

But on Sunday, it's "sorry, Ma," Cavlin said.

Meteorologists said rain is likely after 8 a.m. Sunday, with a high near 57 and showers continuing into the night.
