Long Island weather: Spring-like day surrenders to colder evening temps

For a winter's day, it sure did feel a lot like spring Tuesday.
It hit 60 degrees at Long Island MacArthur Airport, the weather service said, or "well above normal," as the service had predicted. The record for the day was 67 degrees in 1991.
But winter's not done. The weather service says a front will be "ushering in much colder air" Tuesday night, with temperatures falling back into the 30s, even the 20s in some areas.
Wednesday starts out sunny, but gives way to clouds, the service said, and temperatures will be near normal.
Later Wednesday, a warm front from the Southwest comes in, bringing moisture with it. "Waves of low pressure will develop along the warm front Wednesday night into Thursday, bringing mainly rain to the region," the service said in its Tuesday afternoon advisory.
Thursday will see highs in the mid-40s, the service said.
