Long Island forecast: Rain, above average temperatures this week

The snow-day free winter continues for another week with Long Island temperatures expected to be about 10 degrees above average with plenty of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
"Light south winds will help keep temperatures tonight 5 to 10 degrees above normal in the mid to upper 30s," according to the National Weather Service's regional summary Sunday afternoon.
Rain will move in Sunday night and continue on and off Monday, the weather service said, only to begin again Tuesday.
"As a broad surface low over West Virginia enters our area from the south, rain begins again early Tuesday morning and is expected last throughout the daytime hours. Afternoon highs will remain slightly above normal in the mid 40s," the service said.
Wednesday’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies and a high near 46 before the rain likely returns about midnight with some snow mixing in around 3 a.m. Thursday brings a 40% chance of rain before noon with a high in the upper 40s.
The sun comes out for Valentine’s Day on Friday when the high is expected to be about 35 degrees. Saturday will be clear and bright with sunny skies and a high around 33 degrees.
