The sun is delivering an early Father’s Day gift to Long Island: sunny skies and warm temperatures.

As of early afternoon, temperatures were in the low 80s and will probably be steady, including at the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, forecasters said.

News 12 meteorologist Pat Cavlin said it would be a beautiful day to head out east, with “gorgeous temperatures.” Winds were light in Southampton in the afternoon, the National Weather Service said.

“No clouds, no rain, no worries,” Cavlin said. “And that’s pretty much how it’s going to be as we go through the entire weekend.”

Tonight will be mostly clear with a low around 63, the weather service said.

Sunday is looking just as bright. The National Weather Service predicts temperatures as high as 87, which will make for great barbecuing weather.

“It’s going to be a picture-perfect day for Father’s Day,” Cavlin said.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms returns Monday and Tuesday with highs in the 80s, the service said.
