A line of strong thunderstorms Tuesday night was blamed for mayhem across Long Island, authorities said, including trees that crashed into two different homes in Selden. A fire also broke out at the Prospect elementary school on Peninsula Boulevard in Hempstead Tuesday night, though officials were not sure if it was weather-related.
