Sunny skies and warmer temperatures are in the Long Island forecast this week.

Sunday will be the chilliest day of the week when a frosty morning gives way to mostly sunny skies and a high in the mid-50s, according to the National Weather Service. Frost could return Sunday night when the low will dip to 39 degrees.

Southern Nassau will be under a frost advisory Sunday night into Monday morning.

Vulnerable areas in southern Nassau are under a coastal flood advisory until noon because of the high tide, the weather service said.. Areas along the North Shore in Nassau and western Suffolk could also see some flooding this afternoon.

More sunny skies are in the forecast for Monday with a high in the lower 60s. The low Monday night will drop to 45 under mostly clear skies, according to the weather service.

More sun is in store for Long Island on Tuesday, which will likely be the warmest day of the week, with a high about 64. That’s nearly 10 degrees above the average high of 56 at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip.

On Tuesday night the low is forecast to be 50.

Wednesday and Thursday will bring temperatures in the lower 60s with a mix of sun and clouds. The low Wednesday night will drop to 45. On Thursday night, the low will be about 53.

Friday brings a 50% chance of showers and a high of 65 and a low at night of 50. On Saturday, there is a 50% chance of showers with a high of 60.
