Long Island weather: 50% chance of rain Tuesday afternoon, high near 45 degrees

A weak frontal system moving across the region will bring a chance of light rain Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Long Island will have a 50% chance of rain after 2 p.m. with a high temperature near 45 degrees, the service said.
Tuesday night the forecast turns from rain to a slight chance of light rain or drizzle between 9 p.m. and midnight with a low of 40 degrees.
"Dry and sunny conditions then return during the day on Wednesday as a weak high builds across the area," the weather service said it its regional summary Monday afternoon.
Long Island should be mostly sunny with a high near 47 during the day Wednesday but the service says for Wednesday night there is a 50 percent of showers, mainly after midnight, with a temperature of around 43 degrees.
Thursday is expected to be breezy and mostly sunny with the temperature falling to about 40 before dropping further to a low of 25 Thursday night.
Friday should have clear skies with a high near 31 and a low at night of around 20, the weather service said.
On Saturday snow is likely before 3 p.m. before turning to rain with a high near 39 degrees. Sunday is expected to be partly sunny and brezzy with a high near 37.
