Long Island weather this weekend is looking to be mild and slightly wet, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday will be cloudy with a high of 61 and a 30 percent chance for rain during the day. The overnight low will be 46, with the chance of rain increasing to 40 percent, said Carlie Buccola, an Upton-based meteorologist for the service.

The clouds will continue into Sunday morning, but should clear up by the afternoon, Buccola said. The high for the day will hit 51, which will drop to 33 overnight into Monday.

The temperatures are warmer than normal for Saturday and slightly warmer than normal for Sunday, Buccola said. The average high for Islip this time of year is 49 and the low is 34.

The weekend conditions follow a trend of warmer weather this week, which included a record high of 64 degrees Friday at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma. The previous record was 63 degrees, set in 1999. Friday was the 12th day this month that had highs in the 60s, according to service data.
