It’s a warm, mostly sunny Wednesday for Long Island, the National Weather Service said.

A daily record high was tied at just past 3 p.m. when Long Island MacArthur Airport hit 83 degrees, said Jay Engle, National Weather Service meteorologist based in Upton. The record was set in 2008.

News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said there’s a chance for wet weather developing after 5 p.m., with a few showers and maybe a storm possible. The chance of rain lingers until about 10 p.m., he said.

Skies then start to clear with dry, cool conditions moving in.

Overnight lows are in the upper 50s, about normal for this time of year, he said.

Thursday looks to be mostly sunny with daily highs in the mid 70s.

And, those more seasonable temperatures — in the mid 70s — are expected for both Thursday and Friday, Hoffman said.
