Here’s to a nice long weekend, with many Long Islanders also cheered by the prospects of well-above normal temperatures, at least for Saturday and Sunday, forecasters said.
Saturday is expected to head up to the low 50s, with mostly sunny skies. The day will be getting a chilly start, as wind chill could make temperatures feel cooler through around midmorning, said Faye Barthold, National Weather Service meteorologist in Upton.
Sunday is looking to bring sunny skies, with highs of around 54 degrees.
Said Rich Hoffman, News 12 Long Island meteorologist, “it’s a car wash weekend.” Also, the normal high for this time of year is 41 degrees, he said.
As for precipitation, not a drop was in sight, the weather service said.
Monday, which is Presidents Day, brings sunny skies with highs in the mid-40s.
