It's a dry, warm Wednesday with clouds moving in throughout the day, the National Weather Service said.

The cloud cover and an incoming warm front deliver another day of unseasonably mild temperatures to Long Island, the service's Upton office said.

Daily highs across Nassau and Suffolk counties are near 60, with light and variable winds from the southeast at around 11 mph.

News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said the average temperature for this time of year is 53 degrees.

As clouds develop Wednesday, there's a chance for spotty drizzle starting in the afternoon and again in the evening, Hoffman said.

The rain is expected to begin later Thursday, mostly in the afternoon. Winds from the south-southeast will be between 15 and 20 mph with gusts to 35 mph, Hoffman said.

Hoffman described Thursday's weather as "stormy, warm, wet and windy."

Some parts of Long Island could get more than an inch of rain, he said.

Daily highs will be in the low 60s.

As the rain starts to lighten, nighttime conditions will offer some clouds and the chance of showers.

Overnight lows are in the high 40s.
