Clouds were thickening Wednesday and rain was expected overnight and into Thursday, the National Weather Service said.

After a cool, wet night in the 50s, showers will continue to fall off and on Thursday and should clear out by late afternoon or nightfall, the weather service said. Temperatures should rise to about 70 degrees.

Friday should be mostly sunny with a high in the mid 70s and then Saturday, the heat is on, with an expected high of 88, sunshine and higher humidity. Lows will just be in the 60s both days.

There is a chance of rain and thunderstorms on Sunday and Sunday night. Highs are forecast to be in the mid-70s, the weather service said.

Sunshine returns for the beginning of the workweek on Monday. Temperatures will cool off to around 70 degrees.

Tuesday is also expected to be sunny and cooler, with highs in the upper 60s.
