Wednesday may feel chilly but it's the warmest one we'll see for a few days, the National Weather Service said.

Wednesday’s predicted daytime temperature of 54 degrees is the highest for the next five days in the New York metropolitan area, with daytime temperatures mostly ranging around the 40s. Nighttime lows will reach the 30's and even the high 20's.

Starting Wednesday afternoon, a weak high pressure system brought sunshine to the region, forecasters said. But it's going to be chilly.

“Temperatures will be a few degrees below seasonal levels tonight through Friday,” the weather service said Wednesday. The weekend will be sunny and cold too, with highs in the low 40s, and, for Sunday night, lows in the high 20s. Monday will be similarly cold and sunny.

After that, "Temperatures start to moderate back to more seasonable levels for Tuesday and Wednesday.”

Tuesday’s daytime high should rise to 49 degrees.
