Long Island weather: Mix of rain, light snow likely overnight

A mix of light snow and rain will likely hit Long Island Wednesday night, but roads will probably be clear by the Thursday morning commute, News 12 meteorologist Bill Korbel said.
"Accumulations are unlikely, other than maybe a thin layer of slush someplace," he said. "It should dry up by 7 a.m."
National Weather Service forecasters warned that precipitation could bring poor visibility and slippery roads to eastern Long Island.
They predicted less than half an inch accumulation overnight, with a slight chance of snow between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. turning into a mix of rain and snow.
Lows will rise from the mid-30s to near 40 by Thursday morning and the area should be dry by Thursday afternoon, the weather service said. Highs should be in the mid-40s.
Friday should be sunny and also in the mid-40s.
Rain — heavy at times — is likely Saturday, dropping off by 7 p.m. Sunday will be sunny with a high of 46.
Next week could bring more inclement weather, with a 50 percent chance of snow Monday night and a chance of rain and snow Tuesday.
