Long Islanders can expect partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the 70s through Friday — but the weekend will bring showers and a cooldown in temperatures, the National Weather Service said.

Areas of "localized patchy dense fog" have developed in Suffolk County Wednesday morning, with visibilities around a quarter of a mile. Conditions should improve after 9 a.m., the weather service said.

Then, Wednesday is predicted to be partly sunny with highs in the low 70s.

More sunshine is expected Thursday and Friday, when highs will be in the mid- to upper 70s. The humidity might also increase slightly, the weather service said.

Saturday will also be warm, with highs in the mid-70s predicted. But rain is likely, and then "drier, seasonable" weather is expected, the weather service said.

Temperatures will drop into the mid- to upper 60s starting Sunday. Gusty winds are also likely Sunday and Monday, the weather service said.
