Wednesday's weather makes for a perfect beach day with abundant sunshine, low humidity, light winds and highs in the upper 80s to 90 degrees in some spots. But the National Weather Service does warn of dangerous rip currents at Suffolk County beaches.

What forecasters call "life-threatening" rip currents will be present at Suffolk's South Shore beaches. "Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water," the weather service said.

Thursday's weather looks very similar. It should be sunny with a high in the mid to upper 80s, southwest winds of about 5 to 8 mph that calm down at night, when it will drop to about 71, the weather service said.

Friday will be sunny and warm, with temperatures in the upper 80s again, but it may not be so comfortable. More humid air will flow into the area on Friday, with heat index values forecast to be in the low 90s.

There might also be "a couple of rounds of showers Friday into Friday night," the weather service said. But that chance is only rated at about 30%.

The weekend is shaping up to be clear and sunny as well, with highs in the low to mid-80s and lows near 70 degrees. The sunny stretch should continue through at least Tuesday, according to the weather service.
