Sunny skies are predicted through Saturday for Long Islanders, but Thursday's high will be cooler than recent days, the National Weather Service said.
The high Thursday will be in the low 60s, forecasters said, although temperatures will rebound back up to the 70s by the weekend. The next chance of rain, albeit just 30%, will be Sunday night.
Expect overnight lows to dip into the low 50s in coming days, maybe even the upper 40s, at least into Saturday, forecasters said.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Sam is making its presence known out in coastal waters by stirring up the waves on South Shore beaches.
"Energetic swells from Hurricane Sam will likely bring rough surf anddangerous rip currents to the ocean beaches by the end of the week," the National Weather Service said.
