Another warm mostly sunny day is in the Long Island forecast for Thursday but showers are possible in the afternoon.

After Wednesday's high topped out at about 72 degrees, there's a 20% chance of showers overnight with a low of 56, according to the National Weather Service.

The temperature will heat up a bit Thursday when the high will hit 77 with a 30% chance of strong thunderstorms in the afternoon, continuing into the early evening, the weather service said.

Damaging wind gusts and "brief heavy rain" are possible, the weather service said.

"Showers will linger through late Thursday night and into early Friday, especially across eastern Long Island and southeastern Connecticut," the weather service said.

Friday will otherwise be sunny, with highs in the mid-60s, the weather service said.

There is a chance of rain Saturday, when highs are expected to be in the low 60s, the weather service said.

Easter Sunday should be sunny but cooler, with highs in the mid-50s.

Similar weather is expected Monday, but there could be rain at night. Rain is also possible Tuesday, when highs in the mid-50s are again predicted, the weather service said.
