Long Island weather: Sunny Sunday part of ‘nice few days’

Sunshine and low humidity should make for another great day for Long Islanders to get outdoors Sunday, forecasters say.

Temperatures Sunday should be in the mid- to upper 70s across the Island, according to the National Weather Service. Monday’s temperatures should be in the lower to mid-70s, the service said.

“I think it’s going to be a nice next few days — very comfortable,” said Carlie Buccola, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Upton office. “We’re not expecting any impacts from Harvey,” she said of the hurricane that’s pummeling Texas.

The pattern for the week should have similar temperatures in the upper 70s to around 80 and a mix of sun and clouds — but no precipitation expected, News 12 Long Island meteorologist Matt Hammer said.

Buccola said the normal high for Sunday at Islip is 79 degrees and the normal low is 64.
