Long Island weather: Pockets of light rain Wednesday night

Those heading home from work Wednesday could meet up with pockets of drizzle or light rain and perhaps fog, but on the whole conditions are drying out, forecasters said.
Still, those pockets of fog and rain may linger overnight, said Faye Barthold, National Weather Service meteorologist based in Upton.
As of just before 4 p.m., Long Island MacArthur Airport was registering 39 degrees, with fog and some mist. In all, the airport had seen half an inch of rain since noon Tuesday, Barthold said.
Clouds stick around overnight Wednesday into Thursday, and there’s a chance of stray showers, said Rich Hoffman, News 12 Long Island meteorologist. Overnight lows are in the mid-30s, with winds subsiding just a bit, he said.
Then, get ready for Thursday, which warms up potentially to around 50 degrees, starting out cloudy but with a gradual shift to sunny skies by late morning to early afternoon, Barthold said.
