Lowest temps on LI in nearly 11 months
Zero degrees.
That's how cold it felt on parts of Long Island on Wednesday morning, forecasters say.
The wind chill ranged between zero and 5 degrees across Long Island shortly before 7 a.m., with temperatures ranging from 13 degrees to 15 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
The wind chill hit zero Wednesday morning in Montauk, Westhampton Beach and Shirley, meteorologist Bill Goodman said. It hit a low of 14 degrees at MacArthur Airport with a wind chill of 1 degree, forecasters said.
It was the coldest morning on Long Island since Feb. 11, when the thermometer hit 9 on Long Island, Goodman said.
"Today should be the last really cold day," he said.
The high temperature should reach 30 Wednesday afternoon, with lows in the mid 20s Wednesday night.
There's a chance of flurries overnight with temperatures Thursday morning ranging from 25 degrees to 30 degrees, forecasters said. Highs will be in the lower 40s during the day and reach the upper 40s on Friday.
Saturday's shaping up to be even milder, with highs around 50 degrees.
