Marine forecast: Relatively calm seas on Long Island waters

A relaxed pressure gradient settles over the region, keeping Long Island winds and seas relatively calm, the National Weather Service said Monday in its marine forecast.

Except for an expected burst of winds 10 to 15 knots Tuesday afternoon, seas should remain below small-craft advisory levels through Tuesday, the service's Upton office said.

Patchy fog could impact the waters Monday night and Tuesday morning, causing visibilities of 1 to 3 nautical miles and possibly less at times, the service said.

Water temperatures range from 72 degrees at Bergin Point to 67 degrees at Montauk and Kings Point.

Inland conditions Monday across Long Island call for daily highs in the low 80s and mostly sunny skies, the service said.
