Mild weather in the week ahead will be punctuated by rain showers midweek, according to the National Weather Service.

While Sunday will see some sun, expect partly cloudy skies to push temperatures down, said Joey Picca, a meteorologist with the service's Upton bureau.

High temperatures on Sunday will be in the 40s across Long Island, while lows will be in the 20s and 30s, he said.

A coastal flood advisory for the South Shore bays on Long Island is in effect until noon on Sunday, but Picca said only minor coastal flooding was expected.

Monday's highs will be in the mid to upper 40s, with mostly dry conditions, although Picca said to expect a few isolated pockets of drizzle. Lows on Monday will be in the lower 40s.

Tuesday will be mild with highs in the lower 50s, Picca said. But the mild temperatures will be accompanied by rain during the day, he said. So far, forecasters are expecting a half-inch to three-quarters of an inch of precipitation.

The chances of rain will gradually decrease into Tuesday night, with lows in the mid 30s, Picca said.

Wednesday brings a chance of some very light precipitation, Picca said. Highs will be in the mid to upper 40s, with lows in the lower 30s.

Thursday is expected to be a dry day, with highs in the upper 30s to lower 40s, and lows in the lower 30s.

Friday's highs will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s.
