A relatively warm, mostly dry week is in store for Long Island, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday's clouds will slowly decrease through the day, with high temperatures in the mid-40s, said Dan Hofmann, meteorologist with the service's Upton bureau.

Lows on Sunday will be 30 to 35 degrees.

On Monday, highs will be in the mid-40s again, with wind gusts up to 25 mph in the afternoon, Hofmann said. Lows will be around freezing.

Tuesday's highs will be 45 to 48 degrees, with lows in the lower 30s, Hofmann said.

On Wednesday, highs will be in the upper 40s, with lows in the upper 30s.

Thursday brings a chance of rain for much of the day into Friday, Hofmann said. High temperatures on Thursday will be in the mid-40s, with low temperatures in the middle to upper 30s.

The chance of rain continues into Friday, with highs near 50.

The higher-than-average temperatures this week are due to a system bringing warm air from the southwest, Hofmann said.
