More snow forecast for LI on Wednesday
Yes, snow is coming Wednesday night, but compared with Friday night's blizzard, "it will seem like a walk in the park," said David Wally, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, based in Upton.
As of Tuesday evening, 1 to 4 inches were forecast, with Suffolk again seeing the higher end of the range, meteorologists said.
"The difference won't be as big as the last storm, maybe an inch or so less in Nassau," said Mike Layer, another meteorologist at the service.
Compared with Friday's storm, Wednesday's system will be much weaker, without the accompanying high winds, the service said.
Look for possible rain turning to snow during the tail end of afternoon rush hour, about 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Layer said.
Snow will fall the heaviest from 7 to 10 p.m. before tapering off by midnight, he said.
Wally said advised Long Islanders to plan on "light shoveling" Thursday morning and expect roads to be slick for the morning commute.
