'Nice couple of days' for last week of summer

Long Islanders can expect two more days of gorgeous late-summer weather, the National Weather Service said Thursday.
A lingering high-pressure system means daytime highs of 75 degrees with clear, sunny skies and light westerly winds through Friday.
Nighttime lows will be in the high 50s to low 60s, the Upton-based service said.
The low for Thursday was 47 at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma, recorded at 5:27 a.m. The record low for the day is 44 in 1990.
By early Saturday, a slow-moving cold front tracks through the region, bringing a slight chance of precipitation after 6 a.m. Saturday, the service said.
Friday night could include some patchy fog because of the incoming front, the service.
"That will probably increase more toward Saturday night," said meteorologist Peter Wichrowski of the service. "But until then it looks like a nice couple of days of warm, sunny weather."
