Ocean waves up to 4 feet, moderate rip current risk on Long Island's South Shore

There might be wind on the ocean waters off Long Island for the Fourth of July holiday, but nothing strong enough to prompt small craft warnings, the National Weather Service said.

There is a moderate risk of rip currents along Long Island ocean beaches Saturday, the service said.

A few gusts Saturday afternoon could approach 25 knots, "but this should be brief," the weather service said early Saturday.

Ocean waves should remain at 4 feet or less and may build, briefly, to 5 feet in eastern waters Saturday night, the marine forecast said.
