NEW YORK (AP) — Hail pelted parts of New York City and Long Island during a lightning storm that also caused some street flooding.

On Tuesday, the sun revealed shaggy trees and a carpet of leaves brought down by the storm.

The quickly melting, walnut-sized hail rattled windows in Park Slope around 8:40 p.m. on Monday. Quarter-sized hail was reported on Long Island, in Long Beach.

The National Weather service says 1.13 inches of rain fell on Central Park.

Street flooding was reported in some parts of Brooklyn, especially in Park Slope, where some basements were flooded.
