Flash flood watch and storms end for Long Island

Rain fell across Long Island for most of the morning Sunday, but the storm had moved east by the mid-afternoon.
A flash-flood watch expired at 2 p.m.; minor flooding in isolated places was reported.
The higher accumulation of rainfall was mainly in Nassau County and western Suffolk, where there were "localized amounts of a 1 to 1½ inches," said Jay Engle, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Upton.
He said no flash flooding was reported.
The storms caused significant delays at New York City's major airports.
On Long Island, a flood watch was in effect from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
Monday will be mostly cloudy through mid-morning with a high temperature in the mid-70s. Engle said there's a "slight chance" of showers but that any potential rainfall Monday is "not a big deal."
The forecast calls for largely sunny conditions and temperatures in the low-to-mid 70s throughout the workweek, Engle said.
