This week will be off to a rainy but warm start, followed by a more familiar fall chill, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday will see mostly cloudy skies with a chance of showers, and highs in the mid-60s, said Joe Pollina, meteorologist with the service's Upton bureau. The chance of showers will increase to 80 percent by Sunday night, with a possibility of a thunderstorm and gusty winds late Sunday, he said. Lows on Sunday will be in the upper 50s.

Monday brings another chance of a thunderstorm in the early morning, with a chance of showers until noon. Monday's highs will be in the mid- to upper 60s. Expect breezy conditions, with wind gusts from 15 to 25 mph. Monday night will be mostly clear, with lows in the upper 30s to around 40.

Tuesday will be sunny, with highs in the lower 50s. Temperatures will drop in the evening, with lows in the upper 20s to low 30s.

Wednesday will also be sunny, with highs in the mid- to upper 40s. Some clouds will come in Wednesday night, with lows in the low 30s.

Thursday will begin to warm up again, with partly sunny skies and highs around 50. The clouds will return Thursday night, with lows in the upper 30s.

Friday will see partly sunny skies with highs in the low 50s.
