Rainy week ahead for Long Island

Expect at least a chance of rain every day this week, National Weather Service meteorologists at the Upton station said Sunday afternoon.
"It's not a total washout, but you can expect to run into some showers," said Joe Pollina, starting with an 80 percent chance of rain through Sunday night and a 30 percent chance of showers on Monday.
Temperatures will be seasonable, with highs in the 70s, dipping into the middle to upper 50s at night, he said, cooling slightly with the arrival of a cold front on Friday that will push daytime temperatures into the 60s.
Before Sunday's rains, the year had been drier than average, Pollina said.
After a week of on and off drizzle, next Saturday is expected to be partly sunny with a high near 69.
