Sunday should be a partly sunny day, the start of a week of seasonable temperatures and improved conditions over last week's stormy weather, the National Weather Service said.

Sunday will be clear with a high in the lower 40s, and mostly clear and in the lower 30s for nighttime. This week, temperatures will be mainly in the upper 30s and lower 40s for the high, said Joe Pollina, of the weather service's Upton office.

The only day with a chance of rain -- 30 to 40 percent -- is Tuesday into Tuesday night, he said.

The warmest day of the week will be Wednesday, with highs in the middle 40s.

Wednesday will be mostly cloudy, with sunny skies prevailing Thursday and Friday, Pollina said.

"Last week, we had a storm system, low pressure, that moved in from the Atlantic region and strengthened ... then meandered over the area for a couple of days," he said referring to the nor'easter that dominated last week's weather.

Looking ahead, he said, the weather looks to be in a "progressive pattern" meaning that whatever storm systems come in will move out quickly. "We're not seeing a blocking pattern where you would see days and days worth of cloudy skies and precipitation," Pollina said,
