Cooler weather will alternate with warmer temperatures this week in a pattern normal for this time of year, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday's temperatures are expected to be slightly above normal, with highs around 80 and more sun than clouds, said Lauren Nash, meteorologist with the service's Upton bureau.

An isolated shower or two could pass through the region, but chances are the area will remain dry, Nash said. Lows on Sunday will be in the lower 50s.

Monday will be cooler, with highs in the lower 70s and dry, sunny conditions. Lows will be around 60, Nash said.

Tuesday will warm up again with highs around 80 and partly sunny skies. Lows on Tuesday will be around 70.

Wednesday will be even warmer with highs in the low to mid-80s and lows in the upper 60s.

A chance of rain begins Wednesday night and lingers into Thursday, with the highest chances for precipitation coming Thursday afternoon, Nash said.

Highs on Thursday will be in the lower 80s, with mostly cloudy skies. Lows will be in the mid-60s.

Friday is expected to be cool with highs dropping back to the upper 70s and lows in the mid-50s.
