Sunny weekend good news for LI Marathon
Get ready for a scorcher, but probably not the one you were expecting. Due to the low humidity readings on Friday, the National Weather Service issued a brush fire alert for the rapid spread of brush fires.
The balmy winds (which gave most of Long Island temperature readings in the mid-70s on Friday) will stick around for Saturday, but it won't be as warm as once predicted.
While the forecast is for a warm high temperature close to 80 degrees in most of the island on Saturday (excluding the cooler East End), it won't get as hot as the forecast implied earlier in the week.
The Long Island Marathon should go off without a hitch on Sunday morning, since rain is only expected after 7 p.m.
Even though the temperatures won't smash any records, it has been a balmy April, with high temperatures 4.3 degrees over the historical average at Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip.
