Thursday works out to be a mostly sunny, warm and humid summer day, the National Weather Service said.

Nassau and Suffolk counties will receive pleasant doses of sunshine, with light winds from the south and daily highs in the 80s, the service's Upton office said.

The sunshine gradually gives way to cloudy late afternoon skies, but conditions are likely to remain dry.

News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said there's a small chance of a shower toward the evening hours.

But "most of the next seven days look dry," Hoffman said, which, from barbecues to beaches, bodes well for the Fourth of July weekend.

That includes Friday, which looks like a repeat of Thursday's conditions, only slightly cooler, with daily highs in the mid to upper 70s.

Saturday and Sunday start with partly sunny skies and daily highs reaching 80 or warmer, Hoffman said. There's a small chance for showers each day, with clouds moving in during the later afternoon or evening.
