Long Island weather: Chance of showers late Thursday, into overnight

Long Island was seeing temperatures in the low 50s Thursday afternoon, to be followed by a chance of showers Thursday night and into the overnight hours, forecasters said.
Shortly before 3 p.m., Long Island MacArthur Airport was registering 51 degrees, with 48 the normal for the day, according to the National Weather Service.
The overnight hours bring a 50 percent chance for showers most likely starting around 9 p.m. or so Thursday and lasting through the early hours of Friday. Rain amounts will be light, around one-tenth of an inch, the weather service said.
Friday, forecast to warm up to the low 50s, was expected to be mostly cloudy, with skies gradually clearing.
The first day of December also brings some breezy conditions, with winds from the north-northwest, said Rich Hoffman, News 12 Long Island meteorologist.
Saturday was looking at highs around the mid-to-upper 40s — and around 50 degrees for Sunday — with both days expected to be mostly sunny.
