It will be sunny and just above freezing for most of the day Friday on Long Island, forecasters said.
Temperatures were in the mid-20s before daybreak and were expected to hit a high in the mid-30s later in the day with light and variable winds, according to the forecast.
“This is generally where we should be at this time of year. For January standards — not bad,” News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said.
It will be mostly sunny Saturday with temperatures likely to top 50 degrees, but rain is expected to move in Saturday night and continue into Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
The rain is expected to end Sunday morning, but rain — or possibly snow — is in the forecast for Monday morning.
