Long Islanders can look forward to a sunny, but windy, Saturday, with temperatures heading up to the low 50s, forecasters said.
An area of high pressure will allow “the area to undergo a warming trend under a west to southwest flow,” the National Weather Service said in its regional summary.
Saturday is expected to warm up to around 51 degrees at Long Island MacArthur Airport, which would be well above the 38 degrees that’s the normal high for the day, the weather service said.
Then, a weak cold front brings “slightly cooler but still above normal readings for Sunday,” the weather service said, with highs in the mid-40s expected, under mostly sunny skies.
A look ahead shows chances for moderate to heavy rain to overspread the area later Monday into Tuesday.
