Expect scattered showers across Long Island Monday to continue through the evening commute, with thunderstorms possible after dark, the National Weather Service said.

In fact, it’s probably going to be Wednesday before a warm-up and return to sunny skies, the weather service said.

As of 10:30 a.m. Monday, the temperature was in the mid-60s, with scattered showers, mostly brief but heavy at times, and humidity at 81%. Scattered showers will continue through the late afternoon, with the potential for thunderstorms at night and continuing through late Tuesday morning.

Skies Tuesday afternoon will partially clear with a high of 81, according to the weather service.

Sunny skies and a high about 80 is in the forecast for Wednesday with a low about 60 at night. Similar conditions will continue through Friday before a 30% chance of thunderstorms Saturday.
